OpenAI Models and APIs Now Accessible to AWS Customers
For many companies, scaling AI requires bringing top models into the systems their teams already use. To address this, OpenAI's models-including the flagship frontier model GPT-5.5-are now available on Amazon Bedrock.
Customers can build with OpenAI's models in AWS alongside the services, security controls, identity systems, and procurement processes they already depend on.
For developers, this means greater flexibility in building with OpenAI, whether for new AI applications, embedding intelligence into existing products, or creating agentic workflows capable of reasoning, taking action, and handling complex business processes.

Codex Arrives on AWS
More than 4 million people now use Codex every week, applying it across the software development lifecycle-writing code, explaining systems, refactoring applications, generating tests, modernizing legacy codebases, and accelerating a wide range of professional workflows beyond coding. Users also leverage Codex to speed up research, analysis, and document-based work by connecting with everyday apps and tools, from summarizing source materials to creating briefs, slide decks, and spreadsheets.
Codex is OpenAI's frontier coding harness and product suite. Organizations can now power Codex with OpenAI models served directly from Amazon Bedrock, allowing any company with an AWS commitment and Bedrock access to begin using OpenAI's coding agent and products with minimal friction.
Customers get started by configuring Codex to use Bedrock as the provider, gaining enterprise-grade features expected from AWS-including security, billing, and high availability. All customer data is processed by Amazon Bedrock, and eligible customers can apply Codex usage toward their AWS cloud commitments.
Codex on Bedrock is available in limited preview. Customers can configure Codex to use Amazon Bedrock through the Bedrock API, starting with Codex CLI, the Codex desktop app, and the Visual Studio Code extension.
Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents Powered by OpenAI
OpenAI is also launching Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, offering enterprises a new way to deploy advanced agents within their trusted AWS environments.
With Bedrock Managed Agents, organizations can build agents that maintain context, execute multi-step workflows, use tools, and take action across complex business processes.
