Claude Tag is a new feature that enables teams to collaborate with Claude directly within their workflow.
The initial launch targets Slack, where Claude can join as a team member. Administrators grant Claude access to selected channels and connect it to chosen tools, data sources, and codebases. From there, anyone in the channel can mention @Claude to delegate tasks while they focus on other work. Claude accumulates context by retaining relevant information from the channels it participates in and can plan out tasks to complete in the future.
Anthropic views Claude Tag as the beginning of an evolution of Claude Code: it makes the model even more proactive and better suited for full-team collaboration. Tagging @Claude has become one of the primary ways work gets done at Anthropic. Currently, 65% of Anthropic's product team's code is generated by an internal version of Claude Tag. The same pattern has spread well beyond engineering-teams tag Claude to track down product metrics and data, work through support tickets, or help identify the root cause of complex bugs.
The launch begins on Slack because it's a natural home for collaborative work between teams and AI, and where much of Anthropic's day-to-day work already takes place. Claude Tag is available today in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers. Anthropic's goal is to expand availability more widely so teams can tag @Claude in other places they work.
Working with @Claude
For those familiar with Claude Code or Cowork, Claude Tag will feel similar. Tag @Claude with a request in simple terms and it breaks the task into stages, working through them sequentially using available tools. Once finished, it responds in a Slack thread with the results.
Tagging Claude introduces several new advantages:
@Claude is multiplayer. Within a given Slack channel, a single Claude instance interacts with everyone. Anyone can see what it's working on and pick up the conversation where the last person left off. This makes tagging Claude fundamentally different from a single-user chat or task-it resembles collaborating with a teammate.
@Claude learns over time. As Claude follows along with its channel, it builds deeper context about the work. Users don't need to re-explain things from scratch repeatedly. Claude can also automatically learn from other Slack channels and data sources if granted permission (it doesn't report from private channels). This gives it the tacit knowledge needed to deliver the best possible work.
@Claude takes initiative. When "ambient" behavior is enabled, Claude proactively shares updates about information it thinks may be relevant. It flags notable information from across the channels it monitors and the tools it's connected to, and follows up on threads or tasks that have gone quiet without resolution.
@Claude works asynchronously. Users can assign Claude a task and focus on other priorities while it works. It can also schedule tasks for itself, pursuing a project autonomously over hours or days. Anthropic has found this particularly valuable internally: team members now spend much more time delegating tasks to multiple Claude instances in parallel.
Users can also send Claude direct messages, and it will respond privately using each person's individual tools and connectors.
Getting started
Claude Tag is designed with teams and organizations in mind: @Claude's access to sensitive data and task-specific tools can be very tightly controlled.
To set up, system administrators specify which tools and information the model should access in which channels. This is essentially creating separate Claude identities for different use cases: everything, including memories, stays scoped to administrator-defined channels. For example, a model configured for sales work won't share memories with one set up for engineering, nor will it give engineers access to sales data or tools. Once permissions are configured, everyone can begin tagging right away. Administrators can set token spend limits (for the organization and for individual channels) and can view a log of everything @Claude has done, along with who requested each task.

- Set a limit on your organization's monthly spend
- Test Claude in a private channel to confirm it works
Claude Tag replaces the existing Claude in Slack app. To migrate, administrators can opt in within 30 days. Anthropic is issuing an introductory launch credit to eligible Enterprise and Team organizations so entire companies can try it out.
